A New Ultra Luxury Island Retreat Is Coming to the Maldives in 2025
Set against the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, a new private island destination is preparing to redefine high-end travel in the Maldives. Scheduled to open in December 2025, this ultra-luxury retreat will introduce a modern approach to exclusivity, offering an experience where seclusion meets refined living.
Spread across two natural islands—aptly named Somewhere and Nowhere—the project promises a setting designed for travelers who value privacy, thoughtful design, and immersive natural beauty.
An Island Experience Like No Other
Located in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, the twin islands provide a front-row seat to one of the world’s most diverse marine habitats. Known for exceptional diving and snorkeling, the area is home to vibrant reefs, manta rays, and seasonal whale sharks. Guests will also have access to the amenities of the neighboring property, Finolhu Baa Atoll, creating the perfect balance between solitude and lively exploration.
The retreat will feature nine residences, each crafted with architectural precision and inspired by the surrounding environment. Designed by KulörGroup, the structures follow the island’s natural curves, blending beachside and overwater living.
From sunrise to sunset, every residence offers panoramic views across the ocean, with eco-friendly building practices integrated into the design. Passive cooling systems, sustainably sourced materials, and reef-sensitive construction emphasize a commitment to preserving the fragile ecosystem.
Somewhere: The Dual Experience

Somewhere stretches across both land and sea, merging the experience of an overwater villa with that of a beachfront home. Expansive sky infinity pools, each spanning 154 feet and featuring cascading waterfalls, form the centerpiece of these residences.
Five of the villas offer three bedrooms and over 12,000 square feet of living space, accommodating up to eight adults. Features include indoor and outdoor lounges, a fully equipped kitchen, a private bar, and outdoor cooking facilities.
Two additional residences expand further, with four bedrooms, 14,000 square feet of space, and dedicated Roohu butlers offering personalized service around the clock. A full water sports center, complete with both motorized and non-motorized activities, enhances the sense of freedom on the island.
Nowhere: The Height of Privacy
Nowhere is envisioned as an enclave for absolute exclusivity. It includes two primary residences that can be booked as a complete private retreat. The three-bedroom villa spans 12,000 square feet, with a private 49-foot pool overlooking the lagoon.
The five-bedroom Presidential Villa, however, stands as the defining highlight, offering 24,000 square feet of space, a 92-foot swimming pool, and direct access to a private beach. Capable of hosting up to 24 adults, it is designed for large gatherings while maintaining a discreet atmosphere.
This island also houses Fehi Spa and a state-of-the-art fitness center, ensuring that wellness remains a central focus.
Wellness at Fehi
Fehi Wellness, derived from the Dhivehi word for “green,” offers a tranquil environment devoted to personalized treatments. Guests can choose from therapies such as heated salt stone massage, cold jade nephrite stone therapy, and aquatic reflexology.
The spa integrates ancient practices with modern techniques, ensuring treatments that are both restorative and deeply tailored to each individual. Residents of Somewhere can also enjoy spa services directly within their villas, maintaining privacy without compromising on luxury.

Dining as a Journey
Safar, the restaurant and bar, shapes dining as an adventure in flavor. The name means “journey” in Dhivehi, and menus reflect global inspiration. Chefs are available 24 hours a day, offering meals that range from fine dining to casual villa barbecues.
Guests can enjoy a private beach picnic or a multi-course menu overlooking the water. Food is presented as both creative and comforting, designed to match the mood and preference of each guest.
Design Philosophy
British design studio Muza Lab shaped the interiors. Designers Inge Moore and Nathan Hutchins drew on the textures and colors of the Maldives. Carved wood, stone, and marble blend with references to traditional Dhoni boats and Feyli sarongs. The result is a style that honors local heritage while presenting an international level of sophistication.
When the project opens in December 2025, it will add a new layer of refinement to Maldivian travel. The dual-island concept brings together eco-conscious design, personal service, and true privacy.
Surrounded by rich marine life and shaped by thoughtful details, it offers travelers more than a stay. It creates a rare experience that combines nature, design, and culture into a destination unlike any other.
